4 STEPS TO BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE

Are you losing your self-confidence due to some certain reasons or want to boost your self-confidence and self-esteem? Then this article is for you. Before we dive in, by grading yourself, how much confidence do you have? 98%? 90%? 70%? 50%? 40%? Grade yourself.

Self-confidence is an attitude on its own; it is the way you view yourself, it relates to self-assuredness in one’s personal judgment, ability, power etc. Possessing little self-confidence can lead you to becoming depressed, to fall short of your potential, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships.

Too much self-confidence on the other hand can result in off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to                       learn from failures. But with the right amount of confidence, you will take informed risk, stretch yourself but not beyond your abilities.

Steps To Build That Confidence

  1. Recognize your insecurities

What does the voice at the back of your mind tell you? What makes you less confidence, uncomfortable or ashamed? This could be anything, an incidence, friends at school or a past traumatic or negative experience. Whatever is making you feel inferior, give it a name and get it out of your mind. Begin to think and affirm positively, gaze at the mirror and tell yourself every morning with a smile that you’re the catch. Doing this regularly will certainly get every form of inferiority out of your mind.

2. Clear all negative self esteem

Ignore any and all destructive critics or insults, including any from your past life or experiences. Your opinion of yourself is the most important step to building confidence, the way you see yourself is the way others will see you. Many of us have been hurt by others one time or the other, it is essential for us not to internalize the abuse and let them continue to hurt us. If we let go of the past, ignore hurtful negativity and make ourselves happy then the way we view ourselves will change, and this is an important step we need to begin to build that self-confidence.

3. Dress attractively

No one is more conscious of your physical appearance than you are. When you look good, it changes the way you see yourself and interact with people. Looking nice to the point of attracting others to your dressing boosts self-confidence, this doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot on cloths. Rather than buying a bunch of cheap cloths, buy half as many selected, high quality items. Expensive cloths wear out with time and stay in style longer enough. Find your style and your way of dressing, make it different and attractive. And also importantly. take care of your personal appearance. In most cases bathing, and shaving frequently, wearing clean clothes, brushing your teeth twice a day and wearing a very nice cologne.

4. Stand out (nice and different)

I call these rule the “the nice and different rule”. To gain confidence you have to make yourself stand out by taking some challenging regular practices:

Compliment others- Break the cycle of negativity by getting in the habit of complimenting others. In this process you will be liked by other people and gain more confidence as you do it often and often. By looking for the best in others, you bring out the best in you.

Speaking up- many people never speak up because they are afraid people will judge them and say something negative about them. The truth is that these are challenges everybody faces. By speaking up at least ones in every group discussion confidently, you build your self-confidence.

Improve your posture and the way your walk- you can also gain confidence by the way you walk, funny enough right? The way you walk views you mood (tired, afraid, ashamed, confident etc.). By improving the way you walk, walking more confidently, walking like you are the catch, thinking of yourself as the dream of every girl, the dream of every guy. With these you’ll get a sense of superiority.

Please yourself- instead of constantly pleasing others, please yourself more often. It is great to take other people into consideration but think before sacrificing your own need to please them. Bending over backwards for strangers, people you don’t trust or acquaintances may leave you with the short end of the stick. In short, don’t allow yourself to be used.

Fell superior and not proud- also try as much as possible to feel superior and not inferior, summon courage and look at people you’ve felt inferior to in the eye with a nice smile and greet them “Good morning”. Do this regular and you experience a boost in your self-confidence.

Conclusion: learn to face your fears and learn from your failure. By following all the steps in this article your self- confidence will be off the chat, and remember; don’t try to be perfect because nobody is perfect.
